Perfect Day Trips for Mother’s Day

Best places to take Mom for a little bonding

Sometimes it’s hard to figure out what to get your Mom. I mean, she’s done so much for you how can you really show your appreciation? Well, sometimes all a Mom wants is to spend a little time with her kids. Here are some amazing places you can take your Mom … without breaking the bank.

Wine Tasting

First of all, you may be thinking “I don’t live near a vineyard.” Well, you may be surprised. Many states have amazing vineyards and their own unique wines. A quick internet search will show you just how many are near you (and how close they are). Since vineyards require a lot of space, they tend to be a little more remote, which makes them a great place to unwind. Simply grab a glass of wine, or two, and take a walk through the serene landscape. You and your Mom can talk about what’s going on in your lives while trying the local specialties.

When’s the last time you had a full-on “shopping spree” with your Mom? Find some of your Mom’s favorite stores (even better if you both love the store) and treat yourselves. Try the mall if you want to visit a ton of places in a day. Or, if you’re feeling a bit adventurous, go to an antique, vintage or thrift store. Sure, you don’t know exactly what you’ll find, but that’s part of the fun, right? Some older pieces may trigger old memories from you or your Mom so in addition to potentially grabbing some unique finds, you may even take a trip or two down memory lane.

Maybe your Mom isn’t in to shopping, but loves to get a few quiet moments to herself. Well, if you live near a coast or a lake, a beach is a great place to relax. Make sure to pack everything you’ll need that way your Mom doesn’t have to worry (though she probably will anyway). You can even get a new book or magazine for her so she’ll have something to read while listening to the waves and birds. If you don’t live close enough to a beach or the weather isn’t great, try taking your Mom to a museum. You’d be surprised at the sheer variety of museums that you can find.

Spa Day

Ah yes – the ultimate in relaxation. Book a manicure, pedicure, and/or facial if you want to be able to spend time with your Mom while you both get pampered. There’s nothing quite like bonding while someone else takes care you. If she’s the kind to get a little stressed, or just needs a little extra relaxation, reserve time for her to get a massage. After the massage, you can go to her favorite brunch, or lunch, place to finish the afternoon off right. A spa day can be the perfect way to beat stress and reset your body. And if anyone deserves to beat stress, it’s a Mom.

Botanical Gardens

If your Mom loves learning or experiencing the great outdoors, these offer amazing opportunities to do both. Botanical gardens are really unique, and beautiful, retreats. And there are all kinds as well – each offering their own unique flora and designs. Places with inclement weather may have a lot more greenhouses while areas with warmer climates may be much more open. No matter where you go though, they’re fascinating places that offer a nice retreat into nature, but in a way that makes it soothing and even educational. The ultimate place to stop and smell the roses.
