I am so ready to get organized! To me, a new year is like a fresh start. As cliché as it sounds, it's an opportunity to commit to making meaningful changes and being your best self! When I was thinking about my goals for this year, I came up with six small ways to make big changes in 2017. Like they say, “New Year, New You!”
If you know me, you'll probably already get why this is the first thing on my list! Clearing the clutter from your life is the BEST way to start fresh! I'm a huge believer that all of that extra stuff we hold onto only weighs us down. Start organizing by category and get rid of things that don't serve a purpose in your home or workspace! I like to keep a basket in my closet for items that I no longer want or need. I hold onto the basket until it is full and then donate the things I still want to let go of! This is a great system because there's no pressure to decide on the spot. If I find myself going back into the basket, I know I shouldn't get rid of certain pieces. Trust me, letting go of the things that are not functional or beautiful will change your life! I’m looking to cut down on even the littlest things, starting with my car keychain. I have a bunch of loyalty cards on my keychain that I don’t use and I’m ready to take them off. The only one I need is my Plenti card! As I mentioned in my previous stocking stuffer blog post, I love using Plenti! It’s a multi-brand rewards program that allows you to earn and redeem rewards points across a variety of brands including: Macy’s, Rite Aid, Chili’s, Exxon or Mobil, AT&T, Direct Energy, Nationwide, Harveys Supermarkets, Enterprise, Expedia and Hulu. It streamlines my different rewards programs into one. Goodbye cluttered car keychain!
Groupon anyone?! I don't know about you but I get such a better workout when there's a little pressure involved ;). Sure, I can run on the treadmill or hit the gym but going to fun new workout classes gets me so motivated! Being around all of that energy totally takes your mind off the fact that you're burning calories and getting in shape! I love sites that allow you to try out a new spin class or yoga studio before you commit long term. Also with Plenti, you can use the Online Marketplace to shop at over 800 stores online! This means you can earn Plenti points per 1 dollar across a variety of brands, including Groupon when you book a class and Nike for your outfit. You can earn reward points for everyday purchases you are already making! Working out and getting your endorphins going will be a fun way to stay energized in the new year!
Whether it's new throw pillows in the living room, a complete home makeover, or anything in between, getting excited about your environment is such a great way to start the year! It could be as simple as ordering a few new accessories on websites like Overstock through the Plenti Online Marketplace. You can save money while shopping for your home and earn points at the same time (earn 3 points per $1 at Overstock). We spend so much time in our homes, they should make us happy and be a place to relax after a long day! There are all kinds of studies about how our spaces really do affect our moods (I'm not just saying that because I'm a designer). I think it's important to pay attention to the colors we choose and the items that live in our homes. I just finished the design studio and with such an inspiring space, work is fun! I love coming in here every single day!
Changing up your look can make you feel like an entirely new person, and what better time than a new year?! I like to make subtle changes like trying a new shade of lipstick or hairstyle (bonus, you can earn double Plenti points on beauty products at Macy’s). Branch out and do something you haven't done before! Maybe it’s bangs or a new fashion trend you've been dying to try. But try on the bangs with clip-ons before cutting. I almost made that mistake myself. ;)
This year, I want to take up a new hobby! I haven't exactly decided what yet... but I think it would be fun to learn a new skill. Maybe baking, because although I can cook, baking is not necessarily my forté and I love trying to make healthy goodies for Liv. Some of the most successful people in the world have said that their achievements were partly because they never stopped learning! Small things like taking the time to go to a cooking class or learning how to do yoga just might bring you closer to your goals.
You know I’m a bargain hunter and this year I want to focus more on savvy and smart shopping, which is why I love Plenti! There are so many ways you can earn points and use them for savings. For example:
